Cosy up your home: The must-have Winter scents of the season

A cosy warm candle wrapped in a camel coloured blanket

There’s a particular kind of magic that happens when the evenings draw in and the temperature drops. In winter, home fragrance isn’t just about making a room smell nice, we can also use it to invoke a particular mood, memory, and a sense of sanctuary.

From slow-burning woody notes that feel like stepping into a log cabin, to bright, spiced blends that bring a little festive lift to grey afternoons, the right fragrance can transform even the coldest day.

Here are our favourite scents to lift your spirits and warm your cockles.

Lower Lodge Candles

As an editor I’m lucky enough to be sent lots of wonderful products to try, and I’ve burnt my way through a few candles. I can honestly say that since trying the Lower Lodge Tonka Bean & Amber, £25, I am now scenting my whole house with this. It’s top notes of bergamot mixed with vanilla, amber, and cinnamon make for the perfect calming blend.

Marks and Spencer

A dupe for Le Labo’s Santal 33 but at a fraction of the price, M&S Warmth Collection, from £6, evokes a comforting scent that warms and invites.

BeautyPie

I’m a sucker for anything with a citrus scent and BeautyPie’s limited edition Bitter Orange and Blackcurrant, from £20 with a membership, is a subtly festive take on the classic. An uplifiting scent that feels like Christmas.

Fabulosa

And, why not kill two birds with one stone and scent your home as you clean? Fabulosa have launched two exclusive all-in-one cleaning ranges at Morrisons and I was lucky enough to try the Winter Angel range. It’s vibrant, sweet, and fruity and comes in every form you can imagine to make your house smell delicious from top to bottom. My bathroom and kitchen have never smelt so good!
