Free Pasta, Free Pasta Sauce, and a Legendary Chef: The Mutti Tour

COMING TO LONDON’S BATTERSEA POWER STATION 8TH - 10TH MAY

The brand Britain's food lovers are obsessed with is going on tour - seven cities, thousands of free jars, and Gennaro Contaldo

If you haven't heard of Mutti, where have you been? The 127-year-old Italian tomato brand - family-run, Parma-based, and responsible for elevating food lover’s mealtimes across Britain - has become one of the UK's most talked-about ingredients. This spring, it's taking that obsession nationwide in the most spectacular way possible.

The Mutti Pasta Sauce Tour launches on 8th May, bringing a beautiful street kitchen on wheels into seven major British cities over the course of the month - dishing out free hot pasta samples, giving away thousands of jars of its best-selling pasta sauce, and bringing one of Italy's most beloved chefs along to kick it all off.

The tour opens with a very special start in London at Battersea Power Station on 8th – 10th  May, where celebrity chef and Mutti ambassador Gennaro Contaldo will be appearing exclusively on the 9th and 10th May. The man who taught Jamie Oliver how to cook Italian - and who grew up on the sun-drenched Amalfi Coast - will be shaping fresh pasta by hand and cooking live in front of the crowd.

Turn up at the Mutti street kitchen and here's what you can expect:

  • A portion of hot, freshly cooked delicious pasta - tossed in Mutti Pasta Sauce with Basil, made right in front of you on the spot.

  • A free jar of Mutti's Pasta Sauce with Basil to take home – Great Taste Award Winner 2025.

  • A spin-to-win game for the chance to grab exclusive Mutti merchandise and Mutti products.

At the heart of this tour is Mutti's Pasta Sauce with Basil - and once you understand what goes into it, you'll understand why they're confident enough to hand it out by the thousand. It starts, as everything Mutti makes must, with the tomato. Mutti mainly grows its tomatoes in the ‘Food Valley’ and the fields surrounding Parma - a region with uniquely fertile soil and long, hot summers that produce fruit of exceptional sweetness and depth. Those tomatoes are harvested at peak ripeness and processed within 24 hours, a commitment that sets Mutti apart from virtually every other brand in the market. Most mass-produced pasta sauces use tomatoes that have been stored, concentrated and reconstituted. Mutti's are fresh from the field and into the jar before their flavour has a chance to fade.

The basil used isn't just any basil. It's Basilico Genovese PDO - one of Italy's most prized and protected herb varieties, grown in the microclimate around Genoa where the combination of sea air, mountain breezes and Mediterranean sun creates leaves of extraordinary fragrance. PDO status (Protected Designation of Origin) means it can only be called Basilico Genovese if it genuinely comes from that specific area - the same protection afforded to Champagne or Parmigiano Reggiano. It is, in short, the real thing.

The result is a pasta sauce that is completely free from additives, preservatives and added sugar - just tomatoes, basil, and the kind of minimal processing that lets the ingredients speak for themselves. No shortcuts. No fillers. No compromise.

The full Mutti pasta sauce range available in retailers nationwide follows the same philosophy - each variety built on Mutti's signature Polpa (their finely chopped tomato, beloved by chefs and home cooks alike) as its foundation, and each one crafted to deliver the taste of an Italian kitchen rather than a factory. Whether you reach for the classic Basil, the fiery Arrabbiata, or any other variety in the range, the same principles apply: 100% Italian tomatoes, honest ingredients, and over 125 years of knowing exactly what you're doing.
